Happy Third Anniversary Eye Prefer Paris

Today marks the third anniversary of Eye Prefer Paris. 298 posts, 130,000 visitors, 432 comments, and 700 subscribers later, I am still happily blogging away. I am inspired everyday by this great city and still have always something to write about.

The last three years have been an amazing journey. What started as a way to share my knowledge and love of Paris has spawned a successful and rewarding tour business, a new career as a professional writer, and best of all, a blog that has a community of loyal readers, who I love and appreciate. Thanks for your comments, your kind, touching and informative emails and to those who boldly took the step to want meet me, who I have become friends with. This has been the most rewarding part of writing the blog.

I lived in Paris for three years, I am married to a Frenchman from Normandy and you have reminded me daily of how much I miss Paris. You have shown me things that I never saw despite walking 4 hours or more every day I lived in that most glorious city; but then one could live in Paris all of ones life and never "see it all". I live now in North and South Carolina; both glorious places, in the mountains and at the sea but it is our great desire to once again have a home in Paris. Bonjour Richard!

I just had to write to tell you how much I enjoyed your past favorites, especially the one about Rogny. I had a friend (started out as a client) years ago who decided to retire to his péniche. He and his friend bought one in the Netherlands and had it reburbished. They spent about 4-5 months of the year cruising along the canals. When he asked when I'd like to come, I jumped at the chance. My husband and I joined them on the Canal du Nivernais for about 5 days. We loved it so much that we rented one of our own a couple of years later and went back with our daughters to cruise the Canal du Midi. We met people from all over the world (this is not an American thing to do apparently, but the rest of the universe has caught on!). I bought a map of the canal ahead of time so I could plan our route. We tried to stop at a place each night where the market day was the next day. We never planned to cook, but the food at the markets was so enticing, we couldn't resist (in our 2' by 2' kitchen). We didn't stop at any place I had ever heard of (except for Carcassonne) but we had a lifetime of adventures--it all comes down to the people, after all, doesn't it? As much as we love the architecture, the history, the language--what we remember most is those with whom we've crossed paths. That's why. of all our trips to France, my two favorite were cruising the canal and renting a house in Normandy--the two trips where we became one with the country.

I just love reading your blog--and I forward it to one of my daughters, another francophile! We'll meet one day..à bientôt!
